Project Description:
1. Assumptions / Dependencies
• The inventory system will be web-based on IIS 7.0
• The inventory system with have no external dependencies other than a Microsoft Access database
• System validation, security and user information is controlled through IIS and Active Directory
• Coding used will be VB based ASP.NET 4.0.
• Database version being used is Microsoft Access 2007
2. Method
o Website browser access via Internet Explorer 9
o Ability to Add, Edit and Retire inventory items
o Each item in the inventory database has attributes detailed in Appendix Part A
o Search function based on attributes
o Call up function for editing items using bar code scanner of the ITS ID number
? For example: Scanner gun scans and outputs ID numbers as text string followed by a carriage return
o Logging of edit and changes to attributes required
o Processing is all server side
