Design Home Screen for Home Automation App

Project Description:
I have a custom home automation app - with a simple and crude UI. I've attached a screenshot of this.

The project is to redesign this main screen into something that looks a lot sleeker. I'm thinking a theme with a textured dark background, and skeuomorphic elements - I'm really liking the look of this switch:

I've also attached a wireframe (HomeSys.png) of a potential new layout, although I'm open to suggestions.

The target device is the iPad, and artwork should be provided in both standard and retina resolutions.
