Project Description:
We are presently funding a project that will be eventually open-sourced and maintained by our company. In short, I need a VERY strong Ruby on Rails programmer(s) that can architect a login/authentication Plugin for Redmine. Anyone bidding for this project must have the ability to put together an Ubuntu based development system consisting of Apache 2, MySQL 5.5 and Redmine 2.2 (or latest branch). This requires a minimum configuration of Rails 3.2.11 and RubyGems 1.8.

That being said, the output of this project is to provide a new Plugin following the plugin architecture detailed here: http://www.redmine.org/projects/redmine/wiki/Plugins as well as here: http://www.gogolek.co.uk/blog/2012/09/writing-redmine-2-x-plugins-tutorial/

The purpose of this plugin will be for those who utilize Google Apps in their business (specifically those whom have setup an account with GMail for Business) to be able to use their user accounts/email information as an OAuth 2.0 Authentication Provider. More information regarding the details of the OAuth for Goog Apps scheme can be found here: http://support.google.com/a/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=61017

This should NOT be confused with using OpenID. There are already numerous solutions for Redmine based around the notion of using OpenID as valid form of authentication . However, this does not help organizations and companies that already turning their business to Google Apps. In addition, we are not looking for another implementation via some other convoluted external authentication system. Again, LDAP and all the other providers have been done before.

For this project, it will require a freelancer that is fully confident with building in Ruby & Rails, understands OAuth as implemented by Google, and whom can provide us with specific installation and testing criteria in order to validate the work performed. Additionally, you will likely be asked to perform routine maintenance once the project is complete and published.

We have estimated a reasonable budget for the project, assuming one of our internal developers were to take on the task. That being said, we will be selecting a freelancer in very short order, so don't wait!!! Bid today!!!

NOTE: The winning bid will be asked to sign and execute our company's standard form contract as well as an NDA and Release of IP upon successful completion.
