Contest Brief

Heart Property recently ran a contest for a logo. We are now running a contest to design and develop a website. We have created a comprehensive brief, outlining the pages we want and the content to be included. The brief is written to you (the designer). we require that the content be copy written and that the end result be a masterpiece combining creative design with sales and marketing best practices with great functionality. We don't want fancy moving parts if they don't facilitate the customer to contact us. Keep it simple and drive the customer to make contact with us. Use photography to show realism. Everything you need is in the attachments. The Website Wireframe spreadsheet will provide most of the guidance, but the MS Word Company Profile, the two research documents and the company logo files will help you to better understand the brief. We have taken a lot of time to consider our requirements and we have put our thoughts down in a structured manner. Please take care to read and understand EVERYTHING before you begin. We will run this competition through milestones. The first is to submit concept designs, then to build up static pages as you intend them to look when finished. The final milestone will be the development and completion of the site (ready for uploading to a host).

    I would like to post this message again for clarity sake regarding our method of rejection to entries:

    I am trying to methodically go through all entries and provide feedback. Once done, I am rejecting the old entries and await modified versions to come back. That way, I am able to keep my focus on the revisions without tripping over the older versions that I have already provided feedback against. I have also just noticed the facility to provide feedback on screen against specific elements of the work. This has proved very helpful. Lastly, I am travelling extensively so I am offline sometimes for 2 or 3 days, but I endeavour to catch up. If you feel that your design has not received feedback, please feel free to resubmit the same and we will do our best.

    Small (or maybe a very pricy tip) to the contest holder: Don't accept WordPress themes. With how the company is heading, you will need features to interact with customers (and your own management) that WordPress won't ever be able to stand against. Accept only pure HTML/CSS and then later on decide to use which language to support the back-end infrastructure.

(2) Please keep the home page background white and provide clean spaces. We do not like rectangular bars of information separated from the home page. A white background will eliminate this. If using photographs, bleed the edges out to white. (3) Note that we are a new company so do not include customer comments or previous jobs on the site. For clear instructions, refer to the wireframe spreadsheet. (4) Lastly, note that we are running a separate contest for the special graphics that will be included on each page.     Dear Designers, there seems to be a number of entries that are copy/pasting websites. We will only consider entries that are reflecting the brief we have given. As a minimum, the site should include the tabs/pages we have indicated, capturing the elements highlighted in the wireframe spreadsheet we provided.
