Contest Brief

We are a group of three Japanese creators based in New York, producing TV shows and movies for both the American and Japanese markets.
Derrrrruq!!! is the name of our group, and its Japanese spelling is デルック (we don’t apply !!!’s to the Japanese name).

For this contest, we need three items;

1: Logo design with the English name (Derrrrruq!!!) in it.
2: Logo design with the Japanese name (デルック) in it.
3: Square, simplified logo without the names for icons for Twitter, YouTube, etc.

The first two designs (1 & 2) need to be identical except for the names. The names in the logo need to be legible.

Some elements to be reflected in the designs.

Don’t try to make it Japanese or Asian. We don’t need to tell that we’re a Japanese company with this logo.

“Derrrrruq!!!” comes from “a nail sticking out” in Japanese, referring to a Japanese saying, “the nail that sticks out gets hammered”, which describes how it is hard to be different in the Japanese society.
We’ve taken on this name as our statement that we produce unique, provocative content that will disrupt Japan’s traditional ways of thinking.
It would be nice if a sticking out nail is incorporated in the logo in some way, but it’s not necessary.
If you incorporate a nail(s), please make sure that the logo doesn’t look like a tool brand or a home improvement supply company.
Simple design with not too many colors.

Designers have two options regarding the logo’s structure.

1: Simple illustration in the center of the logo with “Derrrrruq!!!” / “デルック” below or above. You can put the illustration in a box, circle, or other shapes.

2: Simple illustration/design incorporating “Derrrrruq!!!” / “デルック” as part of it.
