Contest Brief

English Hub is an online English language training business that will be launched in Indonesia, and later expanded to other markets. We will be offering live instruction on teaching software, as well as self study courses via our LMS.

While our courses should be more economically priced than our competitors (in Indonesia, these are standard brick and mortar schools), our competitive edge is accessibility and convenience, e.g. one can study from their pc/tablet/etc. at a location of their choosing. The name English Hub should communicate a sense of community, accessibility, and a center of activity ('hub' in a traditional sense), all in a contemporary online environment.

The logo should be a vector file. I want it to be simple, eye-catching, communicate the ideas I've just outlined, and fit well with the wordmark. It should be able to stand alone on various media where suitable, e.g. watermarks, t-shirts, caps etc., without the wordmark. The wordmark should also be able to stand alone without the logo . I would like to see several lockups or layout configurations so that it retains its character and looks good on any location it might wind up.

The colors used should be red and white (the colors of the Indonesian flag). I'll also want a black and white, as well as a white (for when used on a black background) variants.

The logo should be presented in several sizes so that we can be certain it looks good as we scale it from very large to small.

The winning logo must be provided in the following formats: ai, PDF, EPS, Jpeg, and PNG. It should be in the different color schemes stated previously. I will want files of the logo+wordmark, the logo by itself, and the wordmark by itself. Additionally, I want a favicon and a business card template.

I DO NOT want people to message me to ask me to look at their submission, to ask what I think of their submission, etc. I will look at everything that is sent to me. If I have questions or suggestions about ta submission, I will contact you.

Really....i mean really...the famous IT logo ..a sphere with shiny 3d effect and the client falls for it...and when using it as black and white loses completely the identity and looks like a bird flying over a planet...totally different from what the client asked for the project. ( DID YOU EVEN ASKED HIM WHAT DOES THE ICON MEAN? AN A, B, C LETTERS AND THAT'S IT)?

  Agreed :))) It's obvious that the CH had different expectations and tastes ( much higher ) than the client :) This is just dumb, asking for fresh, minimal, original, memorable and clever design and awarding an overused cliche, which is just dumb because it's unusable on print and at small sizes even on web, lacks any kind of personality or anything else for that matter:)) Well good luck to the client for this project because he's going to need the whole of it, I doubt he'll get any kind of impact on the market with this visual identity as there are a ton of english learning programs out there and this logo here is just another example of bad design and imagery :)))

I keep seeing prefabricated template designs. The graduation caps, the birds the come unfolding from a circle, wordmarks that are separated halfway through with a lightning bolt so that half is one color and half the other.

Either put your unique mark on it, or don't do it at all.

  That's common here, check other contests, you will find same people doing the same (not just writing on the board same messages, also using same logos everywhere just knowing the name of the company, for that reason they never care reading briefs, they will write the initials of the name or make a generic logo), I recommend you to check also profiles .... See these two examples? as I told you, they don't care reading

  Just ignore them, they won't even consider reading this comment nor the contest description whatsoever. I mean you just literally told them not to ask you to check their entries and they replied saying they want you to check their entries!

Some notes of clarification:
1) The design should have some type of graphic/icon/etc that can stand alone without the words "English Hub'. If all you are doing making 'English Hub' without a graphic, you are wasting your time
2) I will reiterate, the colors are RED and WHITE. I know that people will be thinking about the Union Jack. I don't want that. I want something original. And I want it in RED and WHITE, the colors of the Indonesian flag.

I've had logo contests before. So I've seen the standard script logos that you make in 15 minutes used again and again. Please don't fill pages up with this. Do something original. If it's the same old thing, I will just reject it.
