Contest Brief

This project is one part in a series of projects aimed at "remixing" album art from the 1980's produced by a genre of Japanese music called "City Pop." View the following website for more information on City Pop and the type of music involved at, "CityPopper.com".

I recommend that any designer familiarize himself/herself with the music in order to help translate the musical style into graphical form (I hope all of you artists know what I mean!). For this particular design, I'm looking for a designer that can distill the significant features of the image into a continuous line drawing. For example, the hat, head shape, neck, shoulders, and hand are all displayed as a white line, adjusting in width as necessary to suggest different features. The t-shirt will be black. Do not add details such as eyes, or nose, but instead use a "feminine" V/U shape to suggest the head.

I would also like to see the fingers drawn with a fanning shape. That means, three fingers should be fully extended and spread apart enough to be like a "fan." The pinky finger should be furthest away from the face, with the next finger being closer, and the last finger almost touching the face. The hand should be in the same position as on the original album art. these fingers should be seemingly "splashing" away from the face.

The idea is to incorporate just a bit more 80's flair while also keeping an elegant image. The words "Style" and "Keiko Kimura" as written on the album should be reproduced in the SAME font and placed near its original position as seen on the album art, that means, on the right side of the woman's face, but not overlapping the image of the singer. All words should be white like the continuous line. DO NOT use the small descriptive words from the album cover. Only use "Style" and "Keiko Kimura," otherwise, the image will become too messy.

CRITICAL INFO: View the following link to the shirt manufacturer for information on sizing requirements and other information. https://www.printful.com/custom/shirts/guidelines

Please use the 12"X16" guidelines.

In the future, I will also be making other printed image products with various other album images. My hope is to find a graphic designer who enjoys this art and can continue to work with me on a regular basis.

PLEASE email me at Stilejef@gmail.com with any questions.

Employer Feedback

“The designer was able to specifically follow my directions and accommodated the changes that I required even when some of those changes resulted in a reversion of work. I will work with again.”
