Contest Brief

This is for a small town haunted hayride. Each character has their own stage that the hayride wagon pulls up next to, which ques the beginning of the skit. This skit consists of a grim reaper character delivering a stand-up comedy routine.

The script is only around 135 words, and contains some basic instructions. This script is a bit more challenging as it will require 3 voices. It will start with an announcer voice for one line welcoming death on stage, then the death character voice which is characterized as a low budget comedian delivering bits, and finally a short line with your best Elvis impression. A good example of the type of voice we are looking for in the grim reaper/comedian would be similar to that of death from family guy which you can easily find clips of on youtube.

The most important voice will of course be the voice of the comedian grim reaper. If you can not do the other two voices well it won’t disqualify you, but give it a shot!

Instructions for the voice actor are enclosed by [ brackets ] and colored blue, while the instructions for the actors who will be lip syncing the script are enclosed by (parentheses) and colored red. Additional sounds that will be inserted during production are in (parentheses) and colored orange.

As the voice actor, you will not have to say anything within the (parenthesis) they are just left there to give you more context. The instructions within the [brackets] are general cues for certain words, phrases, and voice changes.

To make it more clear, all words to be spoken are written in black. All [bracketed] voice actor prompts are written in blue. And all (parenthesis) live actor cues are written in red. Again, only the black words need to be spoken by the voice actor for this recording.
