Contest Brief

I need a logo design and brand conception/development completed for a real estate app. The name for this business is Rentacle
The business helps home owners manage their rental properties, replacing real estate/management agents with an app. The technology understands rental law, allows for signing of tenancy/lease agreements, completes inspections and maintenance requests - everything that a property management agent does is completed by the app.

The primary driver for home owners to engage a real estate agent is as follows;
1. knowledge - home owners wish to have an expert manage their property, they often don't know the laws regarding leasing a property
2. time/convenience - most landlords work and don't have time to manage their rental property, and they don't want to interface with tenants

Rentacle serves both of these needs by being smarter, quicker and more accurate than any human property agent, and also provides a better experience for tenants.

Plus, Rentacle is cheaper than paying a real estate agent to manage your property.

It is worth noting that it is a serious force of habit that more most people the only thought they will currently have is "I need a real estate agent to manage my rental property" - most people won't think to look for an app that replaces their real estate agent.

With this in mind, the vision I have for the look and feel of the brand and what it should communicate is;

7. caring

The main challenge in acquiring users is their age. Most property owners are older people who are not a naturally trusting of technology and as a result take longer (if at all) to adopt technology. A big hurdle will be to get a 50/60/70 year old property owner to list their investment property for rent on Rentacle, so it should appeal to this type of person. However, it must also feel modern and familiar for the tech savvy younger generation (20/30/40 years old) who will primarily be the tenants using Rentacle.

Rentacle as a word ties in closely with "rent" to rent (or lease) a home, and has the obvious ties to an octopus or similar through "tentacle". Very unrefined tag lines could be;
Rentacle;
When you need more hands to manage your investment property

So the logo could be an Octopus, for example, but I am eager to see your interpretation of the brand and how creative you can be in developing the brand identity.

With this brief on what the business is, the value proposition to clients, how it disrupts the real estate industry, what it should look/feel like and the values it should communicate, I require a talented graphic designer to develop the brand, create a logo (along with necessary variations to colour, layout etc.) with various options from iconography to typographic logos etc., and compile a branding guide complete with colour palette etc.

I need you to make this brand come to life.

I want you to submit logo and app icon mock ups for evaluation, but final product required includes;
logo (colour and greyscale)
app icon
jpg/png/eps variations in web and print formats/dimensions, plus landscape and portrait variations
brand guide and colour palette
facebook/twitter header/banner images
all working files (eg: illustrator files etc.)
branded letterheard/word/powerpoint template
email signature
