Contest Brief

The goal of this project is to address the issue of Social Distancing Challenges for People with impaired hearing begining to navigate a world reshaped by the pandemic, using an economical and easily reproducible setup as open source tools.

The project is inspired by the revolutionary aspects of Linux that are social, not technical. From the beginning, with the aim of being casually modified by volunteers coordinating only through the Internet. The quality maintained by the simple strategy of obtaining feedback and insights from users, creating a kind of gradual and participatory evolution. Freely redistributable, anyone can create a distribution. Empathy is the connecting factor between developers. The source code to be used, modified and distributed commercially or non-commercially by anyone under the terms of GNU General Public License.

Digital Innovation and Transformation During the COVID-19 Pandemic

The COVID-19 outbreak is a tragedy that will have long-lasting implications and complex problems.

Complex problems are difficult to define because different people will have differing opinions about the cause, nature and extent of the problem. It is often their social complexity, rather than their technical complexity that makes complex problems so hard to address.

Problems can be difficult to solve when we only know the issue and none of the steps to fix it.

Some problems, such as definition of the sound source localization problem, description of sound sources and nearby surroundings. Words describing the sound and able to discern the location of the source of a sound. Refers to a more general problem of the origin of sound in a context.

Nonetheless, you can find solutions to simple and difficult problems alike by approaching them a particular way.

A Couple of Practical AR use Examples:

An AR arrow icon could be added to indicate the origin of sounds pointing towards the sound source. Pointing in the appropriate origin of speech .

AR sound effect icons for improved communication.

Individual spechers can be identified by a diferent text font symbol

Emotional speech (like anger and happines) can be marked by a emoji tag

Icons size or colour can be used to indicates loudness

People with sensory disabilities are under significant threat from the COVID-19 outbreak but quickly innovation its operating models to mitigate the impact during the crisis.

The pandemic has showcased the value of digital operating models and is likely to force many companies to speed up their digital innovation and transformation.

What we’re seeing now is that the pandemic has accelerated the rate of change much faster than many had anticipated.

The forum highlights the fact that simple enhancements, through AR and computer interfaces could benefit those with disabilities, potentially transforming their worlds

The objective:

Take part in the race to implemente benefits to put the person before the sensory disabilities limitations

Ready for Takeoff ?

Technology is changing the ways that disabled people interact with the world; perhaps more important, it’s also shifting how the world interacts with disabled people.

Newton's First Law of Motion:

An object at rest will remain at rest unless acted on by an unbalanced force.

Newton’s first law explains why it takes extra force to get moving

This same principle serves to explain the difficulty of starting a project

We are confident that you will be there to support us.

Await your positive response.

That’s why in AR, the boldest and most inspiring organizations will embrace OPEN SOURCE SOLUTIONS: sharing and even giving away their innovative solutions to our toughest shared problems.

But the first questions to ask are radically simple ones: where are we making a positive impact? Could we have an exponentially bigger impact if we shared what we’re doing? What’s stopping us?

Remember to take a look at the sense-hub.com to discutions. Feel free to ask questions, bring up topics for discussions ?

We’re digging in new uses for AR concerning especially people with disabilities. Use AR to make a digital extensions of our senses. AR accessible for everyone especially peoples with disabilities like visual impairments, auditory disabilities, reading disability. Smart headset and smart glasses redefine augmented reality (AR) and are the ideal platform for developing AR apps.

    Hello Van D.
    @Vandalit

Thanks for taking the time to post this!

You are absolutely right. the prize USD $100 (one hundred U.S. dollars) most devs Will consider as symbolic.

I know that this space is a source of income for many developers, I do not want to devalue anyone's work,

but I seek to inspire those who have ease with the area and free time, which is rare to contribute to inspire others in a virtuous cycle, where in addition to a symbolic gratification you can help a crowdsourcing project milestones

Real time use of audio transcription services
This discussions serves as a model example of the state of our modern world,

With right resources at hand, developers will help expand the possibilities of toolset to scale solutions for specific needs.

This is a discussion that would allow for student, teacher, to develope AR accessibility apply to everyday use, thinking in really purpose-built devices and apps.

A forum from a developer perspective.

Building together a vibrant tech ecosystems.

Let’s see what developers tells us.

    As an example

A smart glass can alert the user to all the dangers and alert situations he can’t hear the sounds of crying babies, the horn of an approaching car as you absentmindedly step out into a busy street, to recognize and alert the wearer to sounds that represent imminent danger.microphones for detecting the sounds they capture and rout to an additional app on a connected smartphone for processing interacting to a smart glasses to informe and comunicat to the user.

We think by focusing on peoples with disabilities, we can find ways that the utility of a device like smart glasses and headphones can be seen very quickly.

The forum will not disclose treatment, therapeutic or diagnostic devices. We want to create discussion questions and think in new forms to bring AR to use and enable persons with disabilities to live independently and participate fully in all aspects of life, and AR forms of assistance and support to grant access for persons with disabilities to new information and communications.

Developers can create devices to bridge sensorial gaps.

Developers can hack early smart glasses and headphones to suit their needs, like an affirmation for putting practical use cases first.

Money is a motivating factor for most of us, but assuming comparable pay, what is it that makes some companies attract and retain developers. Some developers here (freelancer) are working towards motivation factors such as achievement, recognition, responsibility, the work itself, personal growth, and advancement, learning new things, exercising creativity and solving the Right Kind of Problems, having a voice

Being recognized for hard work. building something that matters

You’re undoubtedly working to tick the positive impact box.

But are you really making a difference? A lasting, meaningful difference that will be felt by future generations?

As a product designer, this is an exciting concept/project, but the dynamics could don't work on this site (or being a matter of price). You need a product concept (the most important), 2d and 3d creation, animation and video production. And I am forgetting the knowledge of technologies, coding and new media for this. The execution are some few steps long, and I am forgetting that each participant is giving their intellectual property of the concept (that in principle its like give start-up idea, #sealed).
It´s a cool project tho. But the most part of the freelancers here are for money, and work, more of recognition.
What I am saying, for 100$ you can get a good ideas, from scratch, in probably 2d concepts or 3d modelings.
And for another hand, even giving the idea at the beginning (an execution work) you can get a good video production with graphic, rendering and video work (and all that for a lot of freelancers is like 200-300USD, just for execution).

I just wanna give you my insight because I like this type of initiative, but they cant work with a bad "reading of the room".
Ask for a concept to showcase on video, with usability, feasibility, and knowledge of implementation is way far from what cand do single freelancers. And I am not sure if here you have i+d or technologies agencies working for this type of things.
Look up the NASA contests on this site, around 1200USD and with some similar approach. Greetings
