Contest Brief
Task: Extract a strip (of specified width) of an AutoCad drawing along a specified polyline path.
I am looking for a VBA/VB6 tool (along with code and all LISP tools if they were embedded into VBA/VB6 code) that automates this task as outlined in the following. I am using AutoCAD 2015 version.
• Load the baseline AutoCad file
• Read the polyline path (X-Y coordinates for all vertices) from an external file in CSV format (BR-1.csv for example). One pair X-Y coordinates for each vertex in only line separated by a comma.
• User specified breadth for the polygon to be drawn around the polyline. The polygon should be extended on both end points by this value.
• Extract ALL objects within this polygon and objects outside the polygon should be trimmed (similar to what EXTRIM command does). Overlapping text may be left untrimmed.
• Save this extracted polygon view of the baseline map (trimmed and rest of the data purged to reduce the size of drawing) into an external DWG file (BR-1_PlanStrip.DWG for example).
• The plan strip shown earlier (the one extracted manually) has been altered slightly (and rotated) and those alterations are NOT required with the automated tool.
