Contest Brief

-- The Task --

I designed a mobile website mockup in photoshop myself for our company marketing website. I will attach these files including the photoshop files and all resources used in it for use in your designs.

I need a mockup design for tablet and desktop using the same information I supplied in the mobile design that will match whatever touchup's or redesigns you do for mobile so that we stick with the same kind of theme. Please make sure designs conform and will look good in the specified minimum widths since the design needs to be RESPONSIVE. This means as the browser stretches and shrinks (or different sized devices view the website) the design won't fall apart.

The pages are located in the marketing website folder of my attachment in the subfolder labeled 'Mobile'. They include...

Home Page (1st slider, 2nd slider, 3rd slider)
Home Page Menu
Service Area Page
Service Area Page Local
Service Area Page Global
Start Quote Page (part 1)
Start Quote Page (part 2)
Gold (Bronze, Silver) Page
Compare Services Page

You can see the demos of these pages in the MOBILE PNG DEMOS folder. All resources, like pictures used, are located in the resources_used subfolder. The exception is the logo which is located in the very top of the folder and is designed to be used as a 'Linked Layer' for the logo between photoshop files. Please refer to my technical requirements for 'Linked Layers'.

In total roughly 9 designs (some easier than others) that are needed. This might sound like a lot but when you see the content on the page its not that bad. Please refer to the attachments. To save you time, you can always design the home page first and if I like that demo you can carry over that concept to the other pages. I will respond frequently on here once or twice every day.

To be clear, I'm not a good designer, what I did was a rough draft to help explain the layout I generally liked, I'm looking forward to your skills to make a better and more clean version that will extend easily to a tablet and desktop design. This means if the phone is switched to landscape mode for example the design will still be OK.

All pages and files will need to be present to win the contest.

The winner of this contest has the right to do the designs for the corporate and franchisee website that I will need next which can be arranged on another private deal.

Since a lot of new designers are making the same mistakes I wanted to clarify a few points. If you follow these you will probably get a 5/4 star rating and be a competitor in the contest. This websites purpose is to get leads for pool service not to give information like a typical website, you could think of this as an advanced landing page (the home page that is). The LESS text the better! The main points are----------------------------- 1.) Call to action MUST be focused on 'Start Quote', first thing your eye is drawn too.------------------------2.) Phone Number--------------3.) Prices of the services *make sure it says 'starting at'* with the prices for legal reasons-------------------------------- 4.) Video-------------5.) Commercial Service & Service Areas Section + Optionally Compare Services----------------6.) Explanation about how we take photos of their pool and how they can see it on mobile device.-----------------7.) Any reference to social media and footer/badges etc.

Tip:: Avoid text that does not serve any purpose. Think about when you go to a website and want to buy a service. If there is so much text and distractions you might just click away in frustration. The idea is to guide the customer to what they need to do, which is the 'Start Quote' or to call the phone number.

Tip:: Don't try to be fancy, simpler the better, stick to less images and more just colors, this will help load times on mobile/tablet devices and be less distracting and in my opinion look more professional.

layout is good, but I'm not liking the design quality or colors? A call to action is really important, like a contact form that the clients can fill out. Also the video doesn't need all the sub videos, we only have 1 video, for this reason I rated 1, but if you try again you can probably do better.

I think what I might have to do here to make this more fair for designers is we do a home page contest, showcasing, mobile/tablet/desktop for home page, and the winning designer I'll have them do the other pages to complete the contest? Is this something everyone can agree to? I think this will make it more worth while to push forward entries? We can also to save you time, have you stick to home page only, and if I accept you know its safe to move forward. Let me know your thoughts everyone, my first time trying contest like this for web design.

Hendrilubis, I think the best thing to do is manually seal your entries in this case. This way things are fair, I'll just guide everyone in the right direction one by one.

Designs with only necessary elements in mind while focusing on the CTA (Call to Actions). In my case, its the phone number and Start Your Quote button. My speciality is in advertising, the current website does well to bring us customers because its simple. This article might give some ideas for everyone (https://blog.kissmetrics.com/100-conversion-optimization-case-studies/)

    -- Technical Details --
In order to understand the service area page, you need to understand what our company does. Our company is a Pool Service Franchise company. This means we sell franchises to prospects that want to get into the pool service industry to make money cleaning swimming pools. This design doubles over as their own personal website & our corporate website.

Our corporate website version needs to have a navigation structure so clients can quickly find the franchisee they are looking to hire. Much in the same way that Pizza Hut helps you find the right pizza franchisee store to go to.

This is why in my attached files I have 2 designs labeled Global & Local. Global refers to our corporate version of the website and local refers to their independent website. They both however use the same designs for everything else!

If there are any questions please put it on the public clarification board.

If you want to use the grid system you can, but it doesn't matter if you do, I have utter and complete flexibility in the system, the only thing that needs to be stretchy is between the minimum sizes in my specs.

Note: : Please refrain from wordpress designs, my site is going to be custom designed and programmed by myself. Only include elements that are going to be useful, especially text related elements, hence stick to the content and you'll be okay.

This site is used for marketing purposes and the more text there is the more likely visitors will leave the page.

My current website for example even as bad as it looks is very simple and is why it works so well to get leads. My goal is simple while still looking professional this time around for franchisee's.

In my files for mobile that I did already, I like that arrangement, just I am really bad at color choices and images used, web friendly fonts, overall, trying to make it look professional. I'm open to all kinds of improvements though even if its completely different, but the content does need to be there.

I should note that in my designs I didn't do one for bronze or silver page, but if you make the design for gold significantly different besides color changes, I'll need a mockup of that, just use the text on my current site, poolserviceusa.com, that is what i'm basing it on, pretty much same thing as gold.

I upgraded the contest to $300 to make it more financially worth while. Need some good designs ASAP. This is for Photoshop files ONLY, you do NOT need to know HTML or CSS. I will be programming it myself later.

The corporate website is not done yet, I only did designs for the marketing website. The contest is just for the marketing website for now. The website will ultimately be located for this project at poolserviceusa.com, so you can see what we had before.
