I am very familiar with Vuforia, and I have been using it for years. However, they have deprecated the native use of the front-facing (selfie) camera. According to a Vuforia Support response, they stated that it would be possible to create a driver and use their External Camera feature to achieve access to the front-facing camera on mobile devices.
