Customer support is a type of customer service which aims to ensure a user or a customer’s satisfaction with a product or service. This can be done in the form of in-person interaction or through calls, emails, and now even social media. Customer support involves resolving customer queries, providing information about company offerings, and even tracking incidents and service requests. Aside from fulfilling client needs, customer support is also an important tool for businesses themselves as they are able to resolve and improve their offerings through feedback from their customers.

 

Good customer support does not only entail expertise and knowledge in the product and service of the company. Other soft skills are required in satisfying customers and sustaining client relations. The most basic competency needed in customer support is communication skills because product awareness without knowing how to communicate is useless. Customers also expect a prompt response to their concerns so efficiency is necessary. Patience is also a requisite skill as some users become difficult to handle when their concerns are unsatisfied. Ultimately, a successful customer support is achieved when customers are satisfied with the response of customer support and consequently, continue to use the product.
