"No follow-up questions from the fabricator" is the right standard, and it comes down to dimensioning discipline: datums picked for how the part is actually machined, tolerances where they matter, call-outs that leave zero interpretation. That's the cleanup I'd do, not just prettier linework. My process: audit your DWGs first, then rework per sheet, layer structure, line weights per standard, dimension chains rebuilt from function, clean title blocks. Then model each machine in Fusion 360 aligned to the corrected 2D, exporting clean organized STEP that opens flawlessly in AutoCAD. One note from experience: STEP carries the solid, not the parametric tree, so I'll keep the native parametric source files and hand those over too for future edits. I'm a mechanical engineer, so I'll flag any dimensional conflicts I find in the current set rather than draft over them.
