Android Wear data collection

This is an Android Wear project. To qualify you must have experience with Android Wear and access to an LG G Watch R device. GOALS The goal is to see how fast we can gather data from an LG G Watch R. We need to collect only accelerometer and gyroscope data. Ideally, we want to collect 50 samples/second of accelerometer data and 10 samples/second of gyroscope data. DIRECTION It is ok to build this on open-source software, as long as the license allows commercial use. We recommend starting with the Sensor Dashboard project ([login to view URL] and [login to view URL]). If you start with this project, you will find that most of the work is already done, except for the saving to the file, and maybe the data batching. (See below for full details of what we need). DELIVERABLES We want you to deliver: • An installable APK that will contain both the watch and phone sides of the project • Full source code and instructions for us to build and deploy the project from Android Studio. DETAILS We would like to collect as many data samples per second as possible. However, we do not know the limitations of the watch. It is possible that you will not achieve our goal of 50 samples/second. That is ok; please just collect at the fastest rate possible. Also, the data does not need to be collected in completely real time. It is good enough to collect the data on the watch, batch it, and send it all to the phone once each second, or even once every couple of seconds. The file can be a simple text file, with five comma delimited fields: • GYRO or ACCEL • Timestamp • X value • Y value • Z value The phone app should include the following functions: • Button to start/stop data collection. Each collection run should store the data in a new file. • While data is being collected: o Display of elapsed time while data is being collected o Display of last collected data sample • While data is not being collected: o Filename of newest data file o Contents of newest data file
