This will begin as one component of an app, but upon successful completion, will grow into a larger project. Right now, I have a partial prototype I have developed myself (checked into github). You'll be taking this, adding features and polish, removing bugs and generally improving it, ready for a launch in Google Play, and a live pilot.
The specific component I'd like developed is a user interface for a loyalty card app.
There is a Content Provider which is updated regularly, which contains user data (photo filename, user name, number of loyalty stamps, timestamp, etc). There needs to be a two-fragment UI, with a grid of photos and names, and a single detailed card, with a loyalty-card UI (a grid of 8-10 stamps). When the user touches the stamps, the UI should change to reflect that, and the touch should trigger an AsyncTask to upload new loyalty stamps to the server (using an existing Cloud Endpoints REST API).
I have already developed much of this functionality, but am happy if you re-write some of what I've created, as I am not good at UI development and am not possessive over the code.
The key skills a contractor will need to do this are android development, including UI classes, AsyncTasks, Content Providers (and Cursors & Adapters), and ideally Cloud Endpoints. A successful engagement will be brief and efficient, with regular checkins and demos, and an estimated time to finish the project. It will include enough lightweight documentation for another developer to modify the code later.
The right contractor will be interested in this because it's a new and interesting business model. If successful, this could be a very large business, and it works in the interests of customers and shops alike. See [login to view URL] for an overview.
In your application, I'd really like to see some evidence that you have experience creating apps that look professional, and some indication of how long you think it will take. I'm based in the UK and would like someone with a significant timezone overlap, capable of communicating in English clearly, and with a good skype video connection.
