Implement interacting L1 and L2 cache controllers

based on the L1 controller hand out attached here

with.

Goal:

I. Base Implementation: (100 points)

i. Service individual CPU read and CPU write requests in all cache states ??" Invalid, Clean and Dirty and provides correct data (50 points).

ii. Service back-back CPU read and write requests in all cache states and provides correct data. (50 points)

II. Enhanced Implementation: (150 points)

iii. Extend your base implementation to allow up to two simultaneous read/write requests to different addresses. It should work for both i and ii above. (50 points)

iv. Add a write-buffer to your system. Extend 1 above to include a write-buffer with write merging. It should work correctly for i and ii above (100 points)

## Deliverables

1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.

2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):

a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.

b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.

3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).

## Platform

General Implementation Requirements:

1. Your implementation must be in C/C++ and using

gcc/g++/CC compiler.

2. Submissions must be turned in electronically by

mail to me, including all source files.

3. Each submission must be accompanied by a README

file that includes

i. Instructions on how to make an executable from

source files.

ii. A simple example indicating the

expected behavior of your controllers.

4. All code must be well-documented which means that

each line of code must have comments. Undocumented

code will be returned without credit.

Controller Implementation Requirements:

[url removed, login to view] implementation must have the following

components in separate files.

[url removed, login to view] (stub)
