Compare file hashes in xml with actual file hashes 3 Update files if hashes do not match As I imagine the design can be like this: a small window with game logo or pic on top, a progress bar below, and two buttons to start the game and close the window

I mantain a game software that uses this same launcher, so detects files thah where changed in the update and only download this. With minimal changes to adjust it to your purposes, must work. Many modern MMOs use an auto updater that is simple and clean. The best I have seen in for EQIM which looked like a window inside Everquest itself and the progress bar was one from within the game. I will take the look of the interface in the game and make the update match in a similar way offering a button to update, a checkmark to auto-update and then, if update are done, a play button.
