I need a massively scalable WebSockets server written in the C programming language.

I'm open to suggestions on technology and target OS (Ubuntu, CentOS, FreeBSD?).

I strongly prefer C over C++ for absolutely smallest memory footprint for each connection.

I'm don't think that "epoll" Linux kernel system call and "libev" ([url removed, login to view]) will scale to that.

According to these C10M links there has to be a custom driver written or a user-space stack:

I'm open to suggestions. I need to get to 10M action connections.
