I'm looking for an experienced C++ developer to write a relatively simple but rubust dll.
The purpose of this dll is to return an associated icon image (preferably as Binary) from Windows for a provided file path and icon size parameter.
The dll needs to be written to work within the C++ redistributable runtime - so NOT dot net, and must be 32 & 64 bit compatible.
Its need to be compatible with these OS's
Windows XP SP2 +
Windows 7 +
Windows Server 2003 + (2008, 2010)
The dll needs to accept two parameters.
1. File path. eg. "C:\tempproject.docx" or "C:\temp\my project.pdf"
2. Size. eg. "Small", "Medium" or "Large" - this obviously means the respective sized icon image is returned
We currently have a work around solution written in C# dot net. Our solution creates a bmp file of the icon image which our software picks up and converts to binary. We can provide what code we have so far if that helps.
I'm only interested in developers with proven experience. This dll must be robust!
We have more projects coming up so I am also looking for someone i can work with in the future.
Thanks
I thought you're wanting to get the icon bin associated with specific file extension. that's what you needed? i can finish the dll, ping me if you would like to award me this project. thanks, Simon.
Hi,
I have done dll projects that are really needs to be very tiny and fast. I have done it for 32 and 64 bit operating systems.
Overall 12+ years of experience in vc++ and c++. I hope I can deliver this work for you with qulity.
Thanks,
Gans.
Hi,
I'm a professional software engineer new to freelancer with over 15 years experience in c/c++ and have written many DLL's in the past for numerous test platforms. I can work on this as soon as you award the project. Obviously I'm UK based and your in NZ which could be extremely benificial from a test view point of the DLL or if there are any further modifications that are required to be made.
I would also propose that I would have to generate a test application for the DLL for my own testing. I'm prepared to offer this as a value added part to my bid. Obviously I'm a native English speaker so if we require to have a telephone conversation or email conversation to clear anything that is unclear up this should be done quickly.
Finally good luck with the rugby England should have made all of our boys swim back home instead of to Auckland !
Best Regards
