I've developed an Android application for our company to track our production employees hours in on a job. In that application we have QR codes that we generate for the job, assign each person an employee number, and a dropdown list where the employee can identify what task they are performing. The employee walks up to a job, scans the QR code and the APP logs the date and time in, then they scan the same QR code to "job out" and again the APP records the date and time. They hit submit and the data is transmitted to a Google Fusion table (free) on-line. Upper management can log into this master table of data from anywhere...anytime. They can down load the data to excel and generate reports by employee, by task, job, etc. It has proven to be very simple for the users and didn't require a lot of time on there part. The one consideration for this is that each user/employee needs to have a smartphone capable of reading a QR code (many free app options) and a Gmail account (also free).
