Design a cycle super highway proposal

Put together a compelling proposal to the state government and local council for an iconic cycle way in Bondi, Australia

Here's some ideas ...

Heavily branded – Bay to Beach – with signage all the way long, and pictures of happy families cycling

• Bike parking at Rose Bay

• O’Sullivan St – ideally on the GOLF COURSE side of the trees – to make it SAFE, and PLEASANT

• Bike parking opposite the shops at Plumer Rd

• Fully dedicated, off road all the way along Curlewis – plenty of space on that road

• Bike parking at Glenayr / Curlewis junction

• Beautiful RAISED crossing over Campbell Pde

• OPTION – new bridge over the car park(similar and to the east of the existing footpath bridge)

• Down the west of the Pavilion (bringing to life that odd corridor)

• Parking and loads of signage at Queen Elizabeth Drive

......

• Rose Bay ferry terminal to Bondi Beach pavilion

• Genuine off road, family safe cycle path – two way (not just a picture of a bike on the road)

• Think more in terms of The Highline in New York than your typical lousy NSW on-road bike infrastructure

• The route is built for it – the land is mostly already there and not utilised

• It should be designed so a 7 year old can cycle the route without fear for her life

• Connects two iconic locations

• Family friendly – will become the go-to ride for parents/with kids on the weekend

• Use it to show off best in class cycling infrastructure

• No messing around – just get this built in time for this coming summer

• No hills – which is unique for Bondi – which means this is friendly for families

• Will be boon for cafes along the route

• Currently it is harrowing trying to cross Old South head Road with a bike

• Connects up mass transport hub (Rose Bay ferry terminal)

• Fits in neatly with all the other cycle route plans around Sydney

• Opens up more commuting to the City via Ferry – eases pressure on the Bondi Junction route to the city

• Should be combined with serious bike parking at both ends – plus a few spots in the middle

• The land is already there - it is a massive easy win – alongside the golf course on O’Sullivan

• Connects with the recent New south Head road cycling infrastructure promoted by Woollahra council

• Awesome positive project for Gabrielle to get behind

• Go really hard on making it family friendly – to keep is away from the lycra vs cars shock jock debate
