Help me with Internet Marketing : Brainstorm a way to track payments

I would like to create a "cash back" system for an affiliate page.
For example:
The user clicks my affiliate link and makes a purchase. The only way I am alerted of this is by my account balance increasing. The website that I am taking them to does not allow me to find out who I referred or any kind of unique identifier. Once I have found out if they have purchased through my link then I will send them their money.
I therefore need a way to track who clicks my link and if they have made a purchase. One idea I have had is that the user records themselves using a video tool making the payment but this is obviously a large hassle for the user. Alternatively I thought of giving the user a cookie when they go to my site however I believe the cookies are not allowed to track other websites.
I would like you to brainstorm how I could do this.
