Convert JS project to Python or Ruby

We need some existing Javascript code converted into a server-based language -- either Python or Ruby. This is approximately 1000 lines of code. (Please don't suggest PHP. I will ignore all bids from programmers who have only done projects in PHP.) The translation must be done intelligently using the strengths of the object-oriented scripting language -- NOT replicating the exact structure of the Javascript code. (To use a spoken language analogy: we want to be able to order a sandwich in Japanese; we don't want to create a sentence like "please make me a sandwich" by replacing each English word with a Japanese one.) In addition, the resulting application must create an API for web interfaces to send and receive data through. These web applications will be mainly AJAX based. I can't reveal the exact purpose of this code here, except to say that it relies heavily on interactions with an SQL database. With your bid, please let me know your experience with Javascript and Python (or Ruby). This project will be best for someone who is excellent with Python (or Ruby) and "pretty good" at Javascript.
