My application needs to send a scheduled SMS (let’s say each 3 hours), means after the user press “schedule” the application will send the first SMS, after 3 hours will send the second SMS, after 6 hours the third SMS , and after 9 hours the 4th SMS. (I’m using setTimeout to schedule the send).
The problem is that phonegap is running the application as an activity and not as a service, so the system will not allow the activity to stay long and will kill it when it needs more resources (as per android activity lifecycle [url removed, login to view] )
But I need to be sure 100% that the SMS will be sent , so I need to keep the application alive for long time.
My target now is only android so if you have a solution for this which will assure the sending of SMS please let me know.
Note: There is a plugin called “Background Mode” [url removed, login to view] but I don’t know if this plugin will keep the code alive even after 12 hours.
Kindly advise me what to do , so I can start a project or consider the plugin.
