This is a bid for development of the server side for the Banned Substances application. I have sent you a private message with a document that describes the scope of this bid in detail, along with some constraints and assumptions. Please read through this document to make sure that it lines up with what you want. It is the same basic document that I created for the last project that was canceled, with one change to indicate specific use of Google App Engine as the server platform.
Since this project is large, I would like to deliver it to you in pieces and have you pay a certain percentage of the total fee after each piece. The pieces I envision and the associated fee payment percentages are as follows. Acceptance of this bid indicates that you are willing to work with this payment schedule.
1. Creation of the product-to-ingredient cross reference data repository, the banned substances list data repository, and the maintenance web pages that allow you to update them. After this piece is complete, you pay 30% of the total fee for the project.
2. Creation of the third-party data collectors and maintenance web pages that allow you to test each collector. After this piece is complete, you pay an additional 30% of the total fee for the project.
3. Completion of the lookup API and the maintenance web pages that allow you to test it. After this piece is complete and all other issues from this phase are complete to your satisfaction, you pay the remainder of the fee for the project.
You also asked if there was an automated way to determine if a product was a drink. I am not aware of any way to do that in an automated fashion, but we can certainly add a field for that to the database and you can populate it manually.
Finally, from a timing perspective, I will not be able to start this for several weeks; I have some other projects in-process that must be finished first. Please let me know if that is a problem for you.
Let me know what you think of all this, including the scope, cost, timing, and the delivery/payment schedule. As always, I am happy to answer any questions or concerns that you have.
Thank you for your time!
