I have two csv files that share a common word. A desktop program needs to be developed that gets specific fields from both files and creates an excel spreadsheet (not just a csv file to import into excel).
Code needs to be placed on each of the columns on the excel spreadsheet so that clicking it will sort the entire data by the contents of that field.
## Deliverables
Either the program need to be statically linked so that it can just run as a standalone EXE requiring no installation program or alternatively an installation program needs to be included to do a standard install on a windows xp machine
The csv input files may be delimited by space, tab, or comma.
The program needs to create an excel spreadsheet as output that can be opened up and will be formatted with headings (bold, etc). A sample will be provided.
Code needs to be embedded (VBAScript or whatever) so that when a button is clicked on each column all rows of the output are sorted by that column (This is to make it easier for the user to sort).
The program needs to have a bit of error checking in it so that if (for example) two input files were chosen and they do not share a common key, it should show this error on the screen.
It should also on a dialog screen that it is about to proceed (before creating the excel spreadsheet) that shows the number of records in each files, number of records matched, and number of records with no matches (where a common key does not exist in both).
The actual data should be in csv or other delimited type format (pretty standard format). I will supply a sample of the data before you start. Data is stored one line at a time in both files, so should be easy to manipulate.
Only certain fields would be required from each csv to be placed into the excel, not all of them.
There should be a simple properties of xml configuration file to allow the user to define the total number of fields in each file, the type of delimited, and whether the field is to be included in the excel spreadsheet.
There should also be a setting in the file to easily indicate the field order (left to right) of fields being placed in the excel spreadsheet.
