Bootstrap Template Tweak and Web Form Work

Background:
We purchased a template from themeforest and now just need a couple of tweaks to be made before the project can go live.

The template is based on bootstrap and uses a lot of JQuery along with html and css. We are using Smarty and PHP on our servers.
These are two issues we have.
1. Responsive Theme "hidden phone" shortcode
As part of the template there exists the Shortcode "hidden-phone". This is designed to prevent elements of page from appearing on devices that have a width less than 768px wide (the width of an iPad in portrait mode). You can read about this [url removed, login to view]
However, in practise this doesn't work as anticipated. You will see on the home screen of the site we have used the slider feature and it is only this which we want to hide from mobile devices (but still to be visible on iPad in Portrait mode). Please see imageA for what we would expect to see on an iPad in portrait mode and imageB for what we are actually seeing.
We need you to resolve this issue.
2. Form validation / Non-conflict Bootstrap issue
There are 4 Forms on the site

All of these forms need to be able to validate as follows;
1. Fields glow green when information is being entered (regardless of whether the field is required or not)
2. IF the form did not validate because a required fields was left empty then field show glow red and an alert error box ([url removed, login to view]) should appear directly above the form.
One thing we have noticed is the template uses the 'no conflict' jQuery option for the 'bootstrap' library. For some reason this stops other jQuery libraries from running, i.e. the gmap library doesn't work when used in combination with the bootstrap library but works fine without.
