I have a very popular forum running on coldfusion.
I need help to get rid of spammers who keeps re-registering accounts on my forum to advertise their site/services.
I currently have a very primitive cookie system which blocks out many non-tech savvy users who doesn't know how to clear their cookies once i ban them.
But those who know how my forum works will simply delete the cookie, then reregister again with another free hotmail account.
Is there a way I can stop this permanently without using too much CPU power?
I'm looking for code that can identify the user's MAC address or something that doesn't change for that PC.
