Control of a USB device from a Web Browser

This is for a potential project. I have a USB device that is communicating to a PC via the standard windows drivers. Currently I am using the HID USB class driver ( but would be willing to use a mass storage device driver) to retreive a small amount of information from the device from a Windows application. What I would like to know is if it is possible to retrieve information from a USB device from a web page. I have heard about Secure applets or Trusted ActiveX componenets to accomplish this but am not familiar with that technology. My goal is not to put any software on the clients desktop if possible and using a standard windows driver is a must. I would appreciate any information on the feasability of this idea( with some technical details). If it is feasable then I will make it a formal project and fund it. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement). ## Platform Win 2000, XP
