When customers call us we want a quick and accurate way to look up their information based on their phone number, company name, etc.
Basically a small window that floats on top of other application windows and typing in the phone number queries at least half a dozen different online sources (can also run queries by name/company name, address, etc.) - if multiple records come up then you can select which one to use.
The interface should be designed so it is very easy and fast to copy and paste that info into our accounting/crm software. Will have to do that field by field.
It should also be relatively small so it doesn't get in the way of our other open applications - when not in use the "data" area should minimize - leaving only the fields to type in the query.
The emphasis is on getting the customers information very quickly, so we don't have to take time typing in the details, risking typos, etc. and don't have to go through different sites looking for their information.
Also, it should be modular in the sense that if a certain online data feed gets shut down/password protected/leech protected, etc. it will be relatively easy to add a new source. We are also interested in continued support in terms of adding/maintaining the data feed links.
Also would ideally like a way to tie it to a caller id system in the future - can be discussed at a later time.
