I am a former journalist and marketing specialist with more than fifteen years of experience writing, editing and proofreading. As a freelancer, I have edited the gamut of material, from academic papers to cookbooks, as well as an extensive range of genres, from non-fiction to contemporary and young adult fiction. Noticing errors is what my brain subconsciously does every time I read! Of course studying for my Diploma in Editing gave me more knowledge about how to do this and tools with which to work. I spot words that are incorrectly spelled or used in the wrong way. I spot inconsistencies in stories - timing of when things happen, factual errors and inconsistencies in how characters respond to situations. So when I read your work, that's what my brain will be doing even while I am enjoying reading what you have written. I work on my own so my time is my own - YOURS - when I am working on your project. I have just completed my third editing project through a similar website as this and am ready and waiting for my next challenge. I've been writing formal documents for many decades as I have been a senior manager and a perpetual student, studying for many years at tertiary level in a variety of subjects. When editing, I issue 2 versions to my clients: 1. With Track Changes and Comments but no formatting changes (as these make a real mess of documents when tracked) 2. Clean copy with comments remaining in for your reference, and with formatting where required I have also trained in working on hard copy.
