We are looking for a proven simple script to monitor asterisk. We run asterisk [url removed, login to view] for several clients and we have experienced instances where asterisk has either deadlocked or stopped running altogether.
The application must either run on the asterisk server or a separate server.
The application must check to see whether asterisk is running and if it is if it is responsive at userdefined intervals (probably once per minute). I've seen some apps that do this by calling a specific extension and ensuring that asterisk handles the call appropriately. if asterisk fails to respond appropriately the system should check again in 10 second intervals. if asterisk fails to respond in 30 seconds then the utility should send an email alerting us, then issue the following commands:
asterisk -rx "core restart now" (should clear deadlocks)
asterisk (should start asterisk if it has failed)
we must also have a way to stop this utility incase we plan to take down either asterisk or the entire server for planned maintenance.
