We have been able to find abandoned heritage in Brazil through the site [login to view URL] who consults the Official Court newspapers which are freely accessible ( in Portuguese “diario oficial”) for each of the Brazilian states: Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Mato Grosso, etc. The Radar Oficial search is of poor quality and only on a part of the Diarios. We need a solution to find in all Diarios (starting with Rio De Janeiro, Sao Paulo ) the judgments containing the words " heranca jacente italiano ". Each Diarios is published every day and includes 300 to 3000 pages and our research is done on previous years. Hi! I have to say that I got interested in this project. I'm a native Brazilian portuguese, living in Rio de Janeiro at the moment. I'm not from here thou, I'm from the south region, where most of the european settlers came in the 19th century, including my grandgrandgrand father at the end of the 19th century. Anyway, I would suggest to start with São Paulo (city and state), since it has the biggest concentration of Italian descent and a strong Italian influence. At the city of Rio I could try to go personnally at the archives, althouth due to the recession, I heard that it has been closed down to the public.
