Looking for a CFD simulation engineer to simulate filtration plants. The process involves air-to-solid-particle separation. Since the particles are considered suspended, the simulation only needs to be single-phase. You should have experience conducting the same or similar simulations in the past. You can use any tool, such as Ansys, STAR-CCM+, or OpenFOAM. The simulation specifications are as follows: * Single-phase * Steady RANS * With porous media * Fluid: Air (and, in different simulations, water) at 23°C * Volume flow rate: 5,000 m³/h * Objective: Understanding flow distribution and accurately estimating pressure drop * Plate footprint: The total volume of the plant is roughly 9.5 m³ and will result in 2–4 million cells (polyhedral) I will provide the filter element CAD and pressure-drop curve, so that you can derive and use Cr1 and Cr2. The filtration plant CAD will also be provided. If you are interested, please be prepared to provide a rough quote.

Accurate pressure-drop prediction and flow distribution are the critical parts of this filtration-plant CFD study, particularly with porous-media modeling and a 2–4 million-cell RANS model. I can set up and perform the simulations using ANSYS Fluent, based on your supplied plant/filter CAD and pressure-drop curve. I have experience in CFD, thermal/flow analysis, engineering simulation, and data-driven evaluation of engineering systems. I’ll calibrate the porous-media resistance from the provided filter pressure-drop data, then evaluate the steady single-phase RANS flow field to identify flow distribution and pressure-drop behavior for the specified operating conditions. The same methodology can be applied to both air and water cases. The main output will be a reliable CFD model with clear pressure-drop and flow-distribution results, together with the relevant simulation data for engineering review. I can review the CAD and filter data as soon as they are provided and confirm the modeling assumptions before setup.

Thank you for the detailed project overview. The scope is clear: single-phase CFD for filtration plants, using steady RANS with porous media, focused on flow distribution and pressure-drop estimation for air and water at 23°C. I can support this type of analysis using your CAD, filter element data, and pressure-drop curve to derive and apply Cr1 and Cr2 consistently across the simulations. The stated scale of roughly 2-4 million polyhedral cells is appropriate for capturing plant-level flow behavior while keeping the model efficient enough for iterative design review. I am comfortable working with standard CFD workflows in Ansys, STAR-CCM+, or OpenFOAM, and can adapt the setup to your preferred environment. I would approach the work by establishing a robust porous-media representation, validating boundary conditions against the supplied curve, and then comparing flow distribution and pressure drop across the relevant configurations. The result will be a practical model suitable for design insight and engineering decision-making. I am available to begin once the CAD and pressure-drop data are shared.

Simulating air-to-solid-particle separation in filtration plants has specific challenges. If the flow distribution isn’t accurately modeled, you could face significant inefficiencies, leading to higher operational costs and potential system failures. Understanding pressure drop correctly is crucial; inaccuracies here could mean undersized components or costly downtime. I'd start with the steady RANS approach, using the provided CAD to align the porous media properties. This ensures we capture flow dynamics accurately, especially given the cell count you mentioned. I believe a few iterations on the simulation will help refine the results, as adjusting Cr1 and Cr2 based on the pressure-drop curve will be key. I've conducted similar simulations before, focusing on precise flow distributions and pressure estimates. Revisions are part of my process to achieve the best outcomes. What’s your timeline for the project? Do you have preferred software for this simulation?
