My AI-driven trading assistant is already handling strategy logic and order routing; the missing piece is a solid, low-latency real-time data feed. I want you to wire the assistant to Alpaca’s streaming API so I can consume live trade updates reliably in Python. Scope • Integrate Alpaca API’s websocket stream and surface Real-time trade updates in a clean, testable Python module. • Feed must plug into my existing Node.js/React dashboard through a lightweight REST or WebSocket bridge so the UI refreshes instantly when new ticks arrive. • Connection management, reconnection logic, and basic error handling are part of the job. Keep the code readable and document the key functions so I can extend it later to current-price or historical endpoints if needed. Acceptance The module is considered done when it streams live trades for a user-supplied watch list, persists them to MongoDB, and broadcasts the updates to the front-end with sub-second lag in a controlled test. Git version control, clear commit history, and a concise README will round out the deliverable.

Your trading assistant already handles decisions and orders; it now needs a resilient Alpaca stream that delivers watch-list trades to MongoDB and the React dashboard with sub-second latency. At Marin Software, I built Python and AWS systems for real-time event pipelines, external APIs, and live visualization, which closely matches this data path. I’ll create a clean Python streaming module for Alpaca WebSocket authentication and subscriptions, then add heartbeat monitoring, exponential-backoff reconnection, resubscription, duplicate-event protection, structured logging, and graceful shutdown. Trades will be stored in MongoDB with suitable symbol and timestamp indexes, then broadcast through a lightweight WebSocket bridge compatible with your Node.js/Express and React stack. I’ll include focused tests, readable commits, configuration through environment variables, and a concise README covering setup and extension points. Is your Alpaca subscription using IEX or SIP market data, and does the existing backend already expose a WebSocket server?

On "Alpaca Real-Time Data Integration" I will prioritize alpaca, real-time, data. Relevant background: Python/SQL backends (FastAPI, ERP data layer, reports). Milestone 1 (~5-7 days): a working endpoint or integration demo you can hit, aligned to your brief. Milestone 2: harden (auth/env), short docs, and handoff. Which acceptance check should Milestone 1 prove first? Claudio (@claudiomf1)

Hi, I reviewed your project requirements for integrating Alpaca's streaming WebSocket API to feed live trade updates into your Python trading assistant and React/Node.js dashboard. My technical approach for a low-latency, resilient feed: 1. Robust Python Async Client: Using websockets / alpaca-trade-api with an asynchronous event loop (asyncio), auto-reconnection with exponential backoff, and heartbeat health checks to ensure zero dropped ticks. 2. Clean Message Dispatcher: Incoming trade messages are parsed, validated against custom ticker watchlists, and formatted cleanly. 3. Bridge & Persistence: Lightweight WebSocket/REST broadcast to update your Node/React frontend in sub-second time, alongside structured persistence into MongoDB. 4. Modular, documented code with clear docstrings, test cases, and a comprehensive README for straightforward maintenance. Quick question: Are you streaming market data from the free IEX feed or the full SIP feed under your Alpaca account? I can deliver the tested module with clear documentation in 48 hours. Best regards, Ana

I wire streaming APIs into existing stacks (Node + React/Python) — reconnection, buffering, and a clean module boundary so your trading logic stays untouched. What I’d deliver for Alpaca: • Python module for Alpaca websocket trade stream with reconnect/backoff and watch-list subscribe • Lightweight bridge (REST or WS) so your Node/React dashboard gets live ticks • Persist ticks to MongoDB; basic error logging + short README for extending to quotes/history ₹980 INR / about 5 days for the stream module + bridge + Mongo persist + smoke test against a small watch list. 1) Do you already have Alpaca API keys (paper or live), and which symbols should v1 subscribe to? 2) Prefer the dashboard bridge as WebSocket push, or a simple REST poll endpoint first? I do the work myself. Sydney timezone.

Your acceptance line is the real spec: live trades for a watch list, persisted to MongoDB, broadcast to the UI with sub-second lag. I would build backwards from that measurement. Plan 1) Python asyncio client on Alpaca's websocket. Auth, subscribe, and an async queue so parsing never blocks the socket read. Watch list is config, not code. 2) Reconnection that is honest about gaps: backoff, re-auth, re-subscribe, and a marker on the first message after a reconnect, so a gap is visible in the data instead of silently missing. 3) Mongo writes buffered in bulk on a short interval, indexed on symbol + timestamp, so persistence never sits in the latency path. 4) Bridge: broadcast first, persist second. A small WebSocket endpoint on your existing Node/Express side; REST kept only as a fallback for late-joining clients, since REST polling is what usually kills sub-second refresh. 5) Proof, not a claim: a test that timestamps a tick at receipt and at UI render and prints the delta, so "sub-second" is a number we can both read. It ships in the repo with the README. Honest note: I have not shipped against Alpaca's stream specifically. I have shipped production API integrations and payment flows that must not drop messages, in Python and Node.js, running live for paying users. Reconnect gaps are the part I have actually debugged in production. One question: how many symbols, and do you need every tick stored or only what the UI shows? That sizes the write buffer.

Streaming low-latency trade updates from Alpaca into your Python trading assistant requires an asynchronous WebSocket client using websockets or alpaca-py with auto-reconnection and non-blocking event loops. At FadSync Development Studio, we implement this through: * Architectural Setup: Asynchronous asyncio event loop with resilient backoff reconnection and ping/pong heartbeats to ensure zero dropped market ticks. * API Integration: Streamlined handler subscribing to Alpaca's SIP/IEX live trade channels, parsing incoming JSON payloads into validated Pydantic models for your strategy engine. * Production Readiness: Thread-safe queue or in-memory ring buffer decoupling WebSocket ingestion from order routing logic, backed by end-to-end integration tests. Are you consuming Alpaca's free IEX market data feed or the full SIP feed, and do you require raw trade ticks or aggregate bar intervals? — Abdul Wahab | FadSync Development Studio

Hello, I can integrate Alpaca’s real-time market-data stream with your existing Python, Node.js, React and MongoDB stack. I will build a clean Python module that: • Subscribes to live trades for a configurable watch list • Normalizes incoming tick data into a documented structure • Reconnects automatically with controlled backoff • Handles authentication, connection and malformed-message errors • Stores trades in MongoDB with duplicate protection • Broadcasts updates through a lightweight WebSocket endpoint • Records timestamps and logs for controlled latency verification • Includes mocked connection and message-processing tests I will also provide a concise README covering configuration, environment variables, startup commands and frontend integration. The work will be committed through Git with clear, meaningful commits. My bid is ₹1,000 with delivery within a day. I can begin as soon as I receive repository access, the expected frontend message format and test credentials. Before starting, I would confirm whether “trade updates” means market trade ticks for watch-list symbols or updates to your own orders and fills. I would also need to know whether your Alpaca account uses the IEX or SIP data feed. Alpaca provides separate clients for market ticks and account order updates, so that distinction matters.
