My strongest area of writing is in comedy. I primarily write skits/sketches that fall between 2-5 minutes. I write about 4 sketches a week unless I aim for more. I also write and perform stand-up comedy. I’ve been involved with stand-up over the course of 2 years now. I also am occasionally involved with improvisational theater. And I have some experience in writing short stories for various target audiences. My online writer’s portfolio features 10 of my comedy sketches. I can write under any criteria or direction somebody asks of me, and am available for both collaborative or independent writing. I love a challenge and being able to push my abilities, so if you think your idea is too absurd… well I’d love to take my hand at it!
I’m currently enrolled in comedy writing classes in Second City, Toronto. Prior to living in Toronto, I had lived in a small town outside of Winnipeg, MB. Outside of Second City, I am constantly studying writing or practicing writing in some form. I originally began comedy writing in Grade 11, since then I have moved to Toronto (where I live now) because it has a strong arts scene, allowing me to further pursue comedy writing. My strengths within comedy are observational and absurd. Most of my skits follow reasonable people put in unreasonable situations, that progress and evolve towards a ridiculous conclusion. I’ve studied from Judy Carter’s texts, Carol Burnett Show scripts, SNL scripts, Jim McAleese’s stand-up classes, and improv.
