I keep those records DNS-only (grey cloud) so mail keeps flowing, then only the web records get proxied. After the nameserver change I hold off on aggressive settings until propagation confirms, then enable caching, Brotli, HTTPS with Always-Use-HTTPS, and security rules tuned so wp-admin and the REST API don't get blocked.
