This job will require the applicant to construct spreadsheets and reports that may include information on trends in medical billing, patient treatment, customer service, cost evaluation and efficiency. These reports will aid the organization by providing statistical data the company can use as a source for determining which adjustments and changes to implement. Much of the applicants daily activities will focus on statistics, including analyzing a variety of data for the specific task at hand and also include ad-hoc reporting.
The applicant should have experience in the healthcare field, including knowledge of medical terminology and the organizational structure of the health organization. The applicant’s duties may vary depending on whether the focus of the reporting activity is based upon a group of practices or a single practice. The applicant must be able to focus on how patient data corresponds to larger trends for the organization's method of treatment. Additionally, the applicant must be able to use a variety of patient data from different data stores to monitor quality of care or to track trends in a particular disease and its treatment and costs.
The applicant will be expected to examine various large databases and create reports based on specific parameters. One must be proficient using desktop computers and have a good working knowledge of such software tools as Microsoft Excel, Access and Word, as well as SQL, for creating reports, calculations and audits and managing databases. Understanding and some skill in the use of Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) such as SQLserver, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle or SyBase is a big plus. Ability to use report writing tools such as Crystal Reports, Dynamics GP or SQL Server Report Writer will be considered a bonus. The applicant may also be responsible for regularly auditing data input. These audits may involve studying numbers, organization practices and customer feedback.
