We are looking for a Senior .NET / Distributed Systems Developer to work on an existing ASP.NET Web Forms + C# + SQL Server based Biometric Attendance & HRMS application. Currently, biometric device communication and HRMS business processing run in the same application/server environment. During high biometric device traffic, the device communication consumes excessive CPU, RAM, database connections and application resources, which can affect or shut down the complete HRMS application. We need to separate the biometric device communication layer from the HRMS application and build an independently scalable architecture. Target architecture: Independent Biometric Device Gateway Persistent TCP/IP device connections Multiple Gateway servers with load balancing Kafka or RabbitMQ message queue Redis for device connection/status management Separate data ingestion workers Separate attendance processing workers Secure APIs between Device Platform and HRMS Existing ASP.NET Web Forms HRMS to remain operational Architecture designed to scale toward 100,000+ biometric devices The key requirement is that heavy biometric device traffic must never bring down or significantly affect the HRMS application. We already have the existing source code and will provide it to the selected developer. The developer must first understand the existing device communication, database and attendance-processing code before implementing the separation. This is not a new HRMS development project and not primarily a UI/web-design project. It is a backend architecture, TCP/IP, distributed systems and performance/scalability project. The selected developer should be capable of working with existing production code and extracting/restructuring components without unnecessarily rewriting the entire application. Must-have: .NET C# ASP.NET ASP.NET Web Forms SQL Server TCP/IP Socket Programming .NET Core / Worker Services Multithreading / Async Programming Distributed Systems REST API Message Queue Kafka RabbitMQ Redis Load Balancing Performance Optimization Database Optimization Good to have: Docker Kubernetes Microservices Windows Services Prometheus Grafana ELK IoT Biometric Devices High-volume TCP systems 4. Most important — add screening questions This will help you avoid hiring an ordinary ASP.NET developer.

The real challenge here is not just moving biometric TCP communication into a separate service. If the current socket handling, database writes and attendance logic are tightly coupled, simply extracting code can move the bottleneck rather than solve it. I would start by tracing the existing device communication and attendance-processing flow, then separate responsibilities incrementally: independent TCP gateways for persistent connections, queue-based event ingestion, Redis for distributed device state, and separate workers for ingestion and attendance processing. The Web Forms HRMS can remain operational while the high-volume workload is isolated. One area I would validate before locking the architecture is what “100,000+ devices” means in practice—total devices, concurrent TCP connections, or peak events per second. That directly affects gateway sizing and broker selection. I would also design event processing to handle retries, duplicates and backlog safely, since attendance data cannot rely on simple at-most-once delivery. Your current architecture has a single point of failure that will cause complete HRMS downtime when device traffic spikes above your connection pool limit. Without isolating the TCP layer into an independent gateway with its own resource allocation, you're one traffic surge away from a production outage that locks out payroll processing. Quick questions - what's your current peak concurrent device connection count, and are you already experiencing database deadlocks or connection pool exhaustion during attendance punch windows? And what's your target RTO if the device gateway fails independently? Here is the architectural approach: - TCP/IP SOCKET PROGRAMMING: Build persistent connection manager using .NET Core Worker Services with async I/O to handle 100K+ devices without blocking threads, isolating device protocol parsing from HRMS business logic. - KAFKA/RABBITMQ MESSAGE QUEUE: Implement event-driven ingestion pipeline where device gateway publishes raw punch events to Kafka topics, decoupling device availability from attendance processing SLA. - SQL SERVER OPTIMIZATION: Refactor existing stored procedures to use table-valued parameters and eliminate row-by-row processing that's currently causing lock escalation during bulk attendance imports. I've architected similar device-to-cloud separation for a manufacturing IoT platform handling 50K+ sensors with zero HRMS impact during traffic spikes. Let's schedule a 20-minute architecture review call where I walk through your existing codebase structure before proposing the migration path.

***HRMS EXPERT** Most of the proposals here are answering an HRMS employee/payroll/leave scope that's not what you described. The actual problem is a resource-contention issue: biometric TCP/IP traffic and HRMS business logic sharing the same process, so a spike in device connections starves the application of CPU/DB connections. The fix isn't more HRMS features it's decoupling. My approach: extract an independent Biometric Device Gateway as a .NET Core Worker Service, holding persistent TCP/IP connections per device and pushing raw attendance events onto a message queue (RabbitMQ, given your team likely wants lower ops overhead than Kafka at this device count — happy to align on either). I have 8+ years of real-time IT experience with .NET, C#, and SQL Server, including multithreaded/async processing and REST API design. I want to be upfront: hands-on production experience specifically with Kafka/RabbitMQ and Redis at scale is something I'd be applying carefully rather than claiming deep prior mastery of — the underlying async/worker-service and API design patterns are strong ground for me, but I want that clear before you screen further. Before scoping precisely: what's the current device connection count at peak, and is there a hard ceiling on downtime for the existing HRMS during the cutover? Akshay B

First move is pulling the device socket handling out from under the Web Forms process without touching the HRMS codebase at all, that's what actually stops device load from taking the app down, and it's a separate deployable from day one rather than a refactor bolted onto the existing solution. The gateway sits in front of the devices as its own persistent connection service, publishing raw punch events onto Kafka or RabbitMQ rather than writing straight to SQL Server. Ingestion workers consume off the queue, normalize attendance records, and push them into the existing database through the same schema the HRMS already reads, so the Web Forms side keeps working exactly as it does now, just reading data that arrived through a buffer instead of a live socket write. Redis sits between the workers and the DB for device state and dedup, which is what keeps a burst of reconnecting devices from turning into a write storm. 250,000 INR over 21 days, milestoned so you're not funding rearchitecture on faith: M1: protocol audit and gateway scaffold, connection handling only, 50,000 INR, 4 days M2: TCP gateway service wired to Kafka or RabbitMQ ingestion, 55,000 INR, 5 days M3: Redis backed attendance workers writing into the existing schema, 50,000 INR, 4 days M4: secure API layer between gateway and HRMS, 50,000 INR, 4 days M5: load test toward the 100k device target, failover pass, scaling notes, 45,000 INR, 4 days That split covers a clean extraction plus a real scale test against the number you've named. What's not in the brief is how many devices are already talking to the current server and at what message rate, and that's the piece that would move this number once I've seen the existing TCP handling code.

Hello, I'm Sanjay, 10+ years experience in .NET/C#, distributed systems, and backend performance architecture. What I understood: Extract biometric device communication from the existing ASP.NET Web Forms HRMS into an independently scalable gateway — persistent TCP/IP handling, load-balanced servers, Kafka/RabbitMQ queuing, Redis for device state, and separate ingestion/processing workers — while HRMS stays untouched, scaling toward 100,000+ devices. Key risk I'd flag: the real challenge isn't building the new gateway — it's the cutover. I'd run the gateway writing to the queue in parallel with the existing path before decommissioning it, so data integrity is proven, not assumed. My approach: Audit existing device-comm and attendance code first to map coupling points, then build the Gateway as a .NET Worker Service with persistent sockets, publishing to Kafka/RabbitMQ, consumed by separate workers writing to SQL Server, with Redis tracking live connection state behind a secure API to HRMS. Questions: Is the device protocol proprietary or a documented standard? Target load now vs. long-term 100,000-device goal? Regards, Sanjay

I’ve gone through the HRMS scope carefully, and the important part is getting the employee, payroll and leave workflows backed by a reliable SQL data model while keeping authentication and employee data properly protected. I can build the ASP.NET WebForms application around these core modules, including secure registration/login, employee records, payroll processing, leave workflows, CMS functionality and dynamic forms. The implementation will focus on clear role-based workflows, responsive screens, validation, secure data handling and maintainable SQL/database structure rather than treating the HRMS as a collection of disconnected pages. I’d also structure the application so the public-facing portions and authenticated HR workflows remain clearly separated, making future modules easier to add without disrupting the existing system. Share the detailed HRMS workflow, user roles and payroll/leave rules, and I can map the database structure and development milestones before implementation.

Hi there, We will architect and build the independent Biometric Device Gateway, separating the TCP/IP device communication layer from your existing ASP.NET Web Forms HRMS so device traffic never impacts core HR operations. The critical piece is the gateway's connection management. We will use .NET Core Worker Services for persistent TCP/IP connections, with Redis tracking device state and heartbeat across multiple gateway instances. Kafka will decouple raw biometric data ingestion from attendance processing, so each layer scales independently. Your existing HRMS stays untouched, consuming processed attendance data through secure REST APIs. A couple of quick things to confirm: 1) What biometric protocols are the devices using (ZKTeco Push/Pull, OSDP, proprietary), and roughly how many devices are active today? Looking forward to your response. Best regards, Faizan
