I need someone to help me design a prototype for an idea I have. It's basically a GPS tracker. I would like to understand the list of components needed to build one standalone tracking device using GPS (Preferably European Galileo).
I don't mind the design looking like a mess, as long as all the components required are there, and that it can be used independently (battery operated).
Ideally, I would like for the device to send that GPS location data it receives, to a controlling computer system, via GSM (SMS)/3G/4G. That data could be coded to show timestamped tracking data overlayed on Google Maps etc.
I would then appreciate a report on the components, construction, and required details needed to run the entire tracking architecture. I want to understand it.
I'm an aerospace engineer and I understand the theory of GPS and the tracking happening, but I want to understand the Electronics side of it by having one system built by a professional/enthusiast. I COULD spend the time and learn electronics and do it myself but I'm looking for wisdom.
