1b) Then plot the historical data on house prices and the number of residential property sales using Excel (for example). You are free to choose the design and the number of charts you wish to present, as long as the developments in the South West housing market are clearly and meaningfully presented, and contrasted with both the UK and the other regions.
1c) Now interpret your findings in point (ii) above. How have house prices and the number of residential property sales evolved over time in the South West? Historically, has the South West housing market been more or less strong than the rest of the UK? Have the disparities in the UK housing market increased or decreased over time? Explain.
2a) Illustrate at least two macroprudential policy tools which might protect the UK financial system against the risks arising from recent developments in the housing market.
2b) In your opinion, will such policy tools (if adopted) have the same or a different effect on the UK regions? Can such policy tools address the disparities in the UK regional housing markets? Explain.
