I am looking for a talented html5 game programmer to write me a "word search" game. Google "word search games" images for an idea for what I am after.
I will provide a javascript function that will provide a matrix of letters (these will vary in dimension from between 5 and 20 letters across and down, perhaps being of unequal width/height), and associated questions for which the player will be looking for the answer.
Questions will always have a text component "e.g., what is the capital of Australia?", associated with the solution "canberra" (for which the player is searching for on the grid), but they may also have an associated image (e.g., "name this animal", with a picture of a dog), and/or an associated mp3 ("what animal makes this sound", with a sound of a dog barking).
The interface should:
* have an area containing the remaining text questions, that can be scrolled through. If there is an associated image or sound, there should be a clickable icon beside the question. If it is an image, the image should be revealed in an interesting way (e.g., "zoomed in") and should be scrollable/zoomable, filling the browser window, until "close" is clicked to hide the image. The audio can play automatically if the "sound" icon is clicked
* the second area on the screen should be the interactive grid of letters. Users can use mouse down/up and move to select either horizontal, vertical or diagonal clusters of letters.
* there should be an "active" question (e.g., clicking on the question highlights it), and a "don't know" button. If the user pressed "don't know" the word is revealed on the grid and the question removed
* if the correct response is given, some cool animation occurs (e.g., a green tick to indicate a correct response, with perhaps some interesting audio, such as applause). The question should then disappear from the list, but the answer remain highlighted on the grid (e.g., like if it had been selected by a pen)
* if an incorrect response is given, some cool animation occurs to indicate an incorrect response (e.g., an animated cross)
* have a splash screen, while the puzzle generates (i.e. calls my function) and loads the required images.
* when the puzzle is finished, a congratulations animation is generated, and a new puzzle generates
* the interface should be fun, but gender and age neutral (e.g., appeal to a wide audience)
* the html5 should support all major mobile devices and browsers:
- it should fill the browser window, and scale accordingly
- it should work in both landscape and portrait (if in landscape, the questions should occur beside the letter grid, and if portrait, the questions should occur under it).
Programming should be iterative, with mock-up screen shots provided early, so that we can communicate and be on the same page regarding requirements.
