Insert Ads Between Portfolio Posts

Our client requires the use of a Portfolio on their homepage with filterable categories. Inbetween some of the portfolio posts on the homepage, they would like to insert an ad space/jpeg image. (Pls see attached image- the white sections A & C) I know this is possible in Wordpress within blog posts but is there a way to do it within Portfolio posts?
