I am a qualified tailor and have designed and made clothes for a lot of people over the years. Fast Fashion has totally disrupted trends, too many designs being produced within hours of the catwalk in factories abroad, made by children in unsafe conditions. I am now looking at creating a Sustainable Children’s Brand called 'Once Upon a Time in a land far far away Ltd. Yes, it’s very long name, however my domain name is www.onceuponatime.global. My brand is all about sustainability and it is for ages 6 months to 14 years old. Initially, I am putting together a capsule for a coat, dress and hat for a girl, and jacket/coat shirt and trousers for a boy. I am already sourcing my fabric - I have my designs, now I need a landing page with all social feeds, twitter, Facebook, Tik-Tok, Instagram, etc connected to an email generator for capturing addresses for when I launch my collection via Kickstarter. I will need a website but that can be developed as I go along.
This is my story, Once Upon a Time in a land far far away Ltd, was an idea that I played with for a couple of years. I was concerned about the Children and through my tailoring business, customers were coming to me with cheap Prom dresses from China and other countries - they were sold a picture and a size and was so excited to be the Belle of the ball. Upon receipt of their dream Prom Dress, it was not what they ordered, so obviously as it took 21days to receive it and it was futile to send it back. Dreams were smashed until of course they came to me. Sometimes you can make a silk purse out of a dreadful mess. The dresses that they bought the prices ranged from £30 - £225 expensive end was the worse made dresses ever. Cheap polyester, netting that was so fine it ripped just looking at it. Nothing that it was made from resembled quality of even the minutest detail. It is fast fashion at its worst. Moving on 4 years to now. I have researched so much about sustainability - companies that are producing fabric from waste, recycled plastic, recycled fish skins. Even the Amazon have Fish that are over a metre in length and the skin is now used as leather without using chemicals. India, South America, Europe, India, these countries are heavily invested in the sustainability chain using waste such as - Orange Peel, Lotus flowers, Banana leaves, fishing nets, organic cotton, the list is endless and these companies are evolving all the time. The reason I chose Once Upon a time in a land far far away, is because the sustainable fabrics that we are developing and continuously developing is so exciting. Children need to know that they do have a voice, that their planet does matter and they have a choice of what they want to wear. Nature, who for the last 3.8 billion years has got it right - nature is always evolving. So, my capsule is that Children don't need to have a wardrobe of new clothes every month/year. my garments are designed to allow growth and an extended lifetime my garments are an heirloom to be handed down to the next generation. It is made from fabrics that have longevity, doesn't lose the beauty, quality and authenticity of the garment. That is in essence my story for www.onceuponatime.global. What I want the landing page to do is to encapsulate my story, show sustainability, carbon footprint, free trade, no animal cruelty. As it is called onceuponatime I have been looking at fairy tales, each fairy tale has a hidden message, Red Riding Hood, never believe what is in front of you, the wolf was not her Grandma. Cinderella, working hard in life is hard but you can achieve a happy ever after ending if you work through the rough times. I'm sure you're getting my drift. My vision is a landing page that tells my story but I want to capture the audience so they go on this journey with me. By focusing on core values of innovation, technique and core fabrics each piece is luxuriously crafted with fine tailoring and quality finish. Any more questions let me know
