Children and technology are practically inseparable these days.
Whether for educational purposes or just for fun, children are spending a good portion of their day on screen time - smart phones, computers and television. In fact, children often know more about the smart phone and latest gadgets than parents do! We want our children to appreciate technology, but we also want to give them firm grounding in the wonderful world of books.
Studies have shown that looking at picture books prepares a child for a lifetime of continued reading. Whether they understand the story or not, hearing a parent's voice - its emotions, rhythms and tones –prepares a child for his own verbal communication.
So how can we encourage our children to spend more time with books?
