Simple iphone countdown app (Swift and a small amount of graphics design)

It's a quite simple countdown app for iphone, similar to the standard iphone "stopwatch" app. Except it's counting down based on a selected interval.
It's important that the app works when being put in the background.
The main thing I need help with is the coding, but there will be some amount of graphic design for the animation of the countdown indicator. All other elements could be as is.
See attached for examples and a more detailed description of what is needed.
