Hi there mate! My name is Tom, and like everyone else here, I'm a Mechanical Engineer. I think I've got a relatively simple solution for you. It's not particularly elegant, but it would definitely do the job. Completely invisible from the front, but easily accessible and removable from the rear, locking the two joined components together. Since we're talking dovetails, I'm assuming you're working with timber? That said, it should work with other materials without any issues.
