I am in the stage rental business. We rent different sizes of stages. Typically our stage pieces are 4' x 4' or 8' x 8'. For example, if I wanted a stage that was 20 x 16, using 4 x 4 pieces it would be 20 feet wide and 16 feet deep and would use a total number of 20 4x4 pieces. If I wanted to calculate a stage using the 8 x 8 pieces for a 24 x 16 stage it would use a total number of 12 8x8 pieces. I would like a program that I could enter in the size of the stage, like 20 x 16 in the program and show me how many pieces of stage I will need and to go one step further it would be nice if it could show me a little picture of the grid configuration with those pieces. This could be a Visual Basic program or whatever. One tricky thing that you would run into is that if you tried to use the 8 x 8 decks in a 20 x 16 configuration, it wouldn't work because the 8 foot deck would be too long in a 20 foot configuration. So that would have to be taken under consideration to just pop up a message or something. I may want to add functionality to print the stage configuration to use for setup of the stage. I am looking for bids could even send me a protected sample program to look at.
